Transmission oil one more time...

Currently running a 1980 Vespa P200e and need to change transmission oil. I have received a range of responses as to what I need. Most say that 30 weight engine oil and 90 weight transmission oil are the same viscosity. If that is true I suppose I could use the 30 weight two cycle oil I mix with gasoline. Is that a reasonable supposition?

Others say I need oil formulated especially for transmissions to GL4 - but not GL5 - specifications.

Spotted this at the local Walmart. Would it be satisfactory?

I'd go for an automotive oil rather than a marine one. Marine gearboxes run at significantly lower temperatures and often have to deal with being mixed with water.

Any SAE30 oil will do. Look in the garden tools section, it's the same oil used for lawnmowers. Plenty available on Amazon:
