was going to fit an MB big head ive had for a while but cant get anything near the squish, i think ive had it machined for No head gasket
but if i replace the 2mm packer with a 4mm packer under the barrel , i have in the garage i can get 1.5mm squish

You stick a packer under the barrel and it will affect your port timings, you'd also want to check the position of the piston at BDC

Your math is off or you are measuring wrong.
If you added 2mm for a total of 4mm packing and you ended up with 1.5mm of squish. By that math the piston should have just been hitting the head with the 2mm packer in place.
Like Rosscla said, the port timings will be affected but it depends on what you are trying to achieve. In the end if you don't care and "just want it to run", use the 4mm and call it done.
