Having just completed an annual trip to Brittany, previously I would have spent time plotting routes, writing them on bits of papers, getting lost et etc.....this year with a new bike sat nav I simply put in the destination programmed no motorways and shortest route. We explored wonderful country roads, pretty much traffic free and a lot probably not shown on most maps......I was also able to communicate with a couple of mates through a Scala Rider bluetooth system.......made the trip much
more pleasurable......

I've been using a SatNav app on my phone which is awesome - getting me to gigs and venues hassle free. In Italy I was touring about on a rented vespa with a map, and I noticed how poor my map reading skills had become. Got frequently lost, but in Italy it was no bad thing

I've just returned from Get Outta Dodge in Co Donegal, using my new Garmin Nuvi from Aldi (£160), and it was brilliant. It saved me loads of stops to check maps.

I can recommend the Wild Atlantic Coast Road, and the North Coast Roas in N Ireland, the Antrim Coast Road and the A75 between Cairnryan and Gretna. The B6271 was fantastic too.

Nearly 1300miles in 6 days, and all 5 countries of the Britsh Isles. Priceless. Thanks for your help, Garmin.

I'll just gently point out that there are NOT 5 countries in the British Isles and i don't GAF what wikapedia or any other website spouts about it.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion Paul, how many do you think there are? (5 seems just about right to me).

Four countries in the UK, and five in the British Isles.

And the three Crown Dependencies - They're not countries so five still gets my vote.

The republic of ireland is not british, simple.

I daresay the citizens of the Republic of Ireland don't consider themselves as living in the British Isles.........4 gets my vote
