Any tips most gratefully received.....Pete

Would it not be possible to use a longer rubber mount to bring the carb out a bit?

Drill a hole in a penny, and use that, instead of the long rattly arm.

I'm running the carb through the airbox mate. On the this rubber the carb lines up almost perfectly.

In your photos it looks like you have the tank rubbers in the wrong place.

They are the 2 split rubbers that sit on the frame above the frame tube. They have to go there. Its probably the angle I took the picture. I fitted all 8 of the rubbers in their correct place.

What about turning the tap in some more so that the rod passes behind the carb? Looks like the rod would be long enough.

If you have a copy of the second edition of sticky's manual, turn to page 147,under "carb removal" theres a photo which shows the orientation of the fuel tap and fuel tap rod.As for the rubbers, they shouldn't be on the bend.
EDIT
If you slacken the tank straps and stand at the side that the photos were taken, turn the tank anti-clockwise until the tap is straight.
