hi all took engine apart with what i thought was a blown drive seal but there is so much soot on these i am wondering :? can anyone shed some light on it please. is this running rich, and would this cause seal failure sorry about pic's first time :oops:

A worn drive side seal would let oil into the crankcase anyway and it will burn all your gearbox oil so that all seems to make sense.

would that cause a seal to go done about 1500 miles ago = 15months ??
