My current resto project came to me with a dating certificate obtained by the previous owner. Will this be O/K to use for the registration process, even though it's not in my name?

It might, it might not depending on who processes it at the DVLA. More important is the date of issue. Over 12 months old now and they will reject and definitely need to be in the latest format. I would get a new one for piece of mind.

i think you will find you need the dating certificate in your name for the registration to go through smoothly.

Thanks. My view is it should be perfectly o/k. But my experience of DVLA recently tells me, don't risk it. I think I'll get a replacement.
