Crank clearance.

Hi all, according to Sticky's book there should be a minimum of 0.5mm between the crank and drive side plate. I've pulled the crank as far through as I dare and I have 0.75mm of play between it and the plate. In the book it doesn't give an acceptable upper limit. Is 0.75mm too much or will it be ok? Thanks in advance Pete.

my tuned engines are set up with 1mm clearance using crank shims , very rarely ever built an engine and found with no shims its much over 1mm.

yes spot on , just make sure you have min 0.5mm mag side . you will find mag gaskets come in various thicknesses so you can get the correct clearance also.

Shouldn't you be using imperial units now?
