I am in the final stage of my RB20 build and all i keep hearing is how s*** they are, there either not giving the oomph people are expecting or are blowing up after 200 miles. Now I realise that some of these will be 220 & 240,s but the RB20 has now been out for around 6 months so has anyone got anything good to say about these beauties as im getting a tad concerned that I have brought into the hype only to find an unreliable kit that will blow up on me.
I have the RB20 with a deli 34m, NK-mid pipe and taffspeed crank and hope to be completed in the next couple of weeks.
any feedback or peoples general experiences good and bad greatly wellcomed..
Cheers
Sef

Mines running great no problems at all (oh! B@**@cks that done it now
) ive only done 1200k though.
tmx35, jl3, 4.8 ratio, std four plate clutch, strong springs. dynoed 20bhp and 16 lb of torque. 75mph (GPS on not speedo)
Just because some people are having problems Dosen`t mean the kits to blame (though it may have its faults) a lot of the problems can usually be found to be other things like air leak,s assembly faults, jetting, etc.
I wouldn`t trust the NKs though
some one i know has had one on a ts1 for six months and had it repaired seven times from cracks
.
Oh and get an egt well worth the money

Russ, iam not saying NKs are great but all exhaust,s will crack if not fitted right, if you have to force the exhaust into place in any way, it will crack. If it has been fitted right and cracked that many times then tell your mate to take it back. As regards the RB20, we had all the doom an gloom merchents slagging the RB22 off when that came out, and most of them hadnt even seen one never mind got one, i dont know anybody who,s fitted there kit right, and jetted it right, thats had trouble. regards.

True, but i think the design of them, in particuler the end can having no support is just asking for trouble. only my oppinion, there must be a reason why it has no end can support?eibargum wrote:Russ, iam not saying NKs are great but all exhaust,s will crack if not fitted right, if you have to force the exhaust into place in any way, it will crack. not strictly true, they only counted the assets and not the liabilites esp the contingent liabilites

Based on what ive seen of the kit, i wouldnt expect the RB20 to have quite as many problems as the RB22 did/does.sydduckett wrote: any feedback or peoples general experiences good and bad greatly wellcomed..
Little Ern has been running one of the original test kits from day 1.....i've not seen any of his posts recently.....but he raves about it. I belive his kit is the one Barrie Braithwaite (BSSO78) tested in scootering magazine......it came out very good on the dyno.
Cilinder porting is good, plus it has a single exhaust port not bridged, and uses a Yamaha Blaster piston, and still has those cool boyesen feeders and W reedblock..............................what's to worry about?
Get it built and enjoy.
