I posted a couple of weeks back about my Kickstart jamming and smashing the teeth on the 1st gear. I opened the side casing saw looked at the damage and left it there. Well after getting the parts I needed from AF Rayspeed (finally!) and an early finish at work today I thought it was time to fix it. Walked into the shed looked down at the open casing and small puddle of gearbox oil left after it had fully drained out and I was presented with this!!.

How did it get there? I didn't build the motor so not me, How long had it been there? don't know as I only purchased the scooter 2 weeks prior.
I consider myself unlucky and lucky at the same time. unlucky that it was in there and caused damage, lucky it didn't wreck the motor, scooter and myself had it locked the motor up at high speed!

Ive seen that before where someone had put a stack of 5p's inside the kickstart shaft to presumably put more pressure on the plunger spring, why?

I think you are exactly right, Its a bad idea and unnecessary full stop. I can tell you it wont be going back in!
