No, not those young ladies who accepted my invite to climb on the buddy seat, put your arms around my waist, and hold on tight. That was...60 years ago. 60 years!

Anyway, on to the elusive large body small body differences...

After Googling for awhile I concluded that my 1962 VBB and my 1980 VSX are both large frame. Also concluded that small frames would be rare in the states. Are both conclusions correct?

hi im not an expert by any means when it comes to vespas, although my first scoot was a rally 180, but smallframe vespas have the side panels all in one with the body, ie not removable, they have i little door over the engine that can swing down, primavera, vespa 90, vespa 50 all common models, i have seen frank and mike buy these on american pickers, there are other less common variants of smallframe too, vespa 100, all large frames have side panels that can be removed.
hope that might help you,
best regards,
holty

I always refer to smallframes V50/90 etc as smalframes,
VBB/Sportiques, 8 inch wheels as mid-frame,
And as said, Rally etc 10" up to PX as large frames.

I know the majority of the smallframes had 10", but the actual frames were actually small.

Just my two penneth :-)
