Lambretta carb keeps popping off

I love my gt 200, but the carb keep popping off the mainfold- (30 mm PHBH) I’ve tried a 2 different rubbers/ different clips but I get the same results, I’ve noticed there’s no groove on manifold like there is on rubber mounted set ups ive had in the past--

Can anyone recommend a good rubber – or anyway to stop this happening- my mate says take it off and machine a groove on the manifold but I haven’t got any tools to do so, so wonder if there a good rubber which fits

I had this problem. Solved with a wider jubilee clip and more importantly not overtightening it. Doing it up too tight seems to make things worse, I do it just until the carb won't move.

Is it a proper Granturismo manifold? My GT186 right hand side one for a larger carb, in my case, a PHBH 30 like you, does have a grove to accommodate the rubber.

I can recommend CambLam's performance rubbers (link below) and as stated above, wider jubilee clips and definitely don't over tighten which I found to be the biggest culprit.

Always clean the outside of the manifold and the inside of the rubber and most important as has already been said... DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.... just tighten it till you can not twist the carb in the rubber or the rubber on the manifold.

If it it has no ridge, I'd message Rich Taylor at Granturismo as I can't see any reason why he would cast some with a groove and some not.

Personally, my experience with ridged rubbers, like the MB one for a PHBH 30, and a quality correct with jubilee clip is much better than those camlam radiator hose ones.

I had one of the ridged rubber ones, was really tight getting carb on until the fuel hit it,the carb flopped into it like a prick into bucket, binned it.

I did wonder about these camlam hoses as I was struggling to fit one yesterday but I thought that they will have been thoroughly tested to make sure they were fuel resistant  Having said that anyone who sells a mugello manifold that you cannot get a spanner on the long stud's nut and then tells you to grind away the manifold until you can does not worry to much about what it sells.

It's definitely a skill......which I've failed to master... ....
