Resistance testing stator plates

I know its the wrong section, but this a Vespa/Lambretta combined question
When you do an ohms test on the pick up, I know the reading is supposed to be 110ish +/-,
But what if I have continuity between the red and white?
It sets my buzzer off on my multimeter, but only on 3 of the 10 stators I have just tested :-/
Should there be a continuity?, if so does that mean my other 7 are faulty and the 3 that buzz are good??
Confused and now going in for a beer or three.
Shaun.
