Hi all, is anyone running a 25mm Dellorto on a GT186 through a standard airbox? I'm going to be using a 25mm on my set up once ready and want to go via the airbox. I want to keep it looking as original as possible. I don't really like the look of a breath sweet filter so want to avoid using one if I can. Thanks in advance Pete.

Hi Pete, Sorry when I replied to your text last night I thought you had a PHBH30 carb not a PHBL25. The PHBL25 can go directly to and through the airbox in the original way. There are some instructions in the build manual on line (link to site on my profile). Typically you need the larger GP style air hose and remove the carb overflow nipple next to the engine mount (it twists out with a pair of pliers).

Yes, provided you can get a hose with a large enough diameter to fit the PHBL

You might could get an alloy bellmouth, depending on the thread on the PHBL.

I got one from somewhere that allowed you to fit a standard GP hose onto a PHBH.

I've had a brief read of the fitting instructions, and it says the airbox may need drilling. If I'm going to drill it I'd obviously rather do it before I paint it. Anyone else had to drill theirs or are they ok as is? The air scope has no cross piece in it. I'm hoping this will allow enough air in?

measure the neck of the air box and the internal elbow if one is fitted. If it is smaller than 25mm then it needs either drilling or the neck and intake modifying.

PHBL25 carbs don't have a threaded fitting for a bellmouth.

PHBL carbs need the airbox hose from the 20mm carb and not the GP hose.
