I have a Series 2 LI150 that I have just put on the road, it is running the following
Standard original barrel
New piston and rings
Electronic ignition
Jettex (with 150 atomiser and slide) through original air box
AF clubman
As I am bedding in a new piston and rings I have been taking it steady not been faster than about 35 for the first 70 miles. Whilst doing a plug chop (which looked about right to me ) I noticed that the engine had got extremly hot. the engine mounts were the same including the cowlings even the rear runner was hot. Now this hasn't seized the engine but Im concerned if I start to open it up I will have problems......I'm quessing this is a carb problem and have tryed a bigger atomiser which seems to make it a bit boggy could it be the airbox causing me probs as its not modified to let more air in.
Running Hot

Most dealers should tell you not to mess about with different atomizers and jets. You should stick with the atomizer that was supplied and just vary the jetting.
Do you have the early type air box with a narrower opening under the air scoop, compare it with a series 3 airbox if not sure. Also check the plug colour. I presume you're using a standard air filter, Italian ones give a slightly better air flow IMO.
All the above of course are just my thoughts on the matter.

I have set my timming to 19 deg I have not strobed it as dont own a stobe gun.
Im runnuing a indiain flywheel with my electronic ignition so it prob is a good idea to strobe it shall have to borrow one
It is not pinking and on inspection the plug colour looks good, would it not being timmed corecctly effect plug colour

if it's not pinking and the plug colour is ok, the timing's probably not far off.
but I wouldn't trust the stator/flywheel marks any more than a ballpark to get it running, then strobe it to check.
Also, I have found that on 22mm [is that what yours is ?] jetexs replacing the slide for the GP200 7895-1 without the cutout is of benefit before starting to set the jets, but that has been on 175cc and above.

Cheers Byron for the advice
I have changed the slide as I had one spare also have now strobed it, the timming was a bit advanced so set it right to 19 deg, I have had a little test ride all appears ok but need to really give it a good ride to see how hot it gets and try a couple of plug chops
