hi lads
doing a full rebuild on a italian gp150 ...decided to put in a af close ratio box
when loose gears are installed they are not sitting flush or slightly proud of top of layshaft ..they are 0.9mm low...hence shim is tight on top of layshaft etc etc plus it wont select neutral as gear is fouling selector
put the original gp150 gears back in and they sit as they should be...
as anyone else had this and is there a solution?
ta phil

That won't solve the problem with the position of the cursor compared to the neutral position though.
It is possible that the layshaft is worn down where 4th gear runs causing the whole stack to be low.

That box is probably made ( badly ) in India. I've seen them machined so badly they are impossible to shim. I'd contact AF and ask for a refund.

tried all week to speak to them ..no joy ...e.mailed them ...no reply ....rang at 12-30 today amazed a lady answered phone and she said i need to speak to workshop as shop was full
try between 5 and 5-30 including today ........rang at 5-15 no reply
after much measuring ,head scratching and deep thought i can see the problem ....fourth gear [36t] should be perfectly flat on the bottom face as the innocenti's are
on the af gear its recessedby 1.62mm on the area of the six lugs that rests on the step on the layshaft!!!!!!!!!!! thus lowering the whole stack ..to confound the problem the new mec layshaft is 1.04mm taller than the innocenti ittem from the step to the top surface so not good
looks like a no win for me

You might try a different layshaft or it may be possible to shim it.
Is 4th definitely the right way round?
