funny noise

just rebuilt a 64 special had it running with a spare 12v stator changed it for a bgm 120 12v stator and I am getting this woooooshing sound as you rev it up and as you ride it you can here it woooooshing what do you think it is

Are you sure its coming from the stator side,if your chain is overtightened it can make that kind of sound.

hi hxpaul well funny enough ive just been back out and think its coming from the casing so could be further investigation needed

sorted I had the chain to tight just put back together sounds great now no more wooooooshing

I LOVE this forum! I have just put my engine back together after re-shimming the gearbox. Been for a spin and can hear this very noise! Was gonna post on here to find out what it may be, and here is the answer
