Got a TS1 stripped down to replace a drive side oil seal ready for Euro and to see if anything else needs upgrading. Existing Yamaha reeds look to be perfect, but with everything stripped down, I have the opportunity to upgrade to the 2 stage Boysen reeds.
The cost part is not the issue, the issue is that the TS1 runs OK, so why change something that's already working. I can see how the 2 sets of petals will open over the rev range to provide a better response. However, has anyone else done this upgrade and noticed a substantial difference in pulling power or whatever.
Plus, if fitting Boysen 2 stage reeds, would you recommend keeping the steel back stop in place.
Thanks

had these in since I built my TS so can't compare against standard reeds. What I can say is I replaced them last year after over 10 years in place, without them giving me any trouble. I only changed them as they were starting to show a little wear. Mine are fitted with just the little bar supplied with the reeds.

Anyway, couldn't help it, I've bought the reeds. I'll fit them and fit them when I get back from Benidorm.
