I've been running my new build TS1 in over the past month or so, noticed the other day that there was a tiny bit of play in the back wheel that wasn't there before and I could hear a bit of knocking. Due to the noise and the movement I decided to open her up and have a look before any real damage is done.

Took side off and clutch out and there was a bit of movement on the first gear, last time there was any play on the first gear it turned out to be a worn layshaft roller bearing, replaced that and it cured the bit of play. I then took off the endplate and was able to inspect the shim and gears. The gearbox shim has a nice gouge all around it (will get a photo in a bit) and it looks like there is a similar wear/gouging on the underside of the end plate where it meets the big shim.

My question is, would a worn layshaft roller bearing result in the wear/damage done to the shim? Or should I be looking for another cause? I am 100% sure that it was all shimmed up and measured properly when it was put together.

Any thoughts, as always appreciated :D

The rear nut has a locking plate around it with the screw loctighted in place so it wouldn't come loose....or would/could it? :o
