Put brake light bulb in and I fired it up all good. Removed headset top replaced blown speedo bulb and It kicks up fires and stalls. Cleaned carb and still the same. The puzzle begins......
Dis-lodged wire on the ignition circuit in the headset at a guess.
Isolate the green from loom at the coil/cdi end and try to start it again, if it starts fault is in the loom/headset.

Thanks Shaun after a couple of hours checking found wires broken on the back of the ignition switch. Easily overlooked due to the rubber cover. Now replaced and running. Thanks for the advice.

Unless one of the broken wires was touching earth and was the one that goes to the CDI, it is likely that the fault is still there and waiting to happen againphilz wrote:Thanks Shaun after a couple of hours checking found wires broken on the back of the ignition switch. What sort of ignition switch is it btw, Indian ones are notoriously prone to developing internal shorts.

It was Indian. Swapped it out and all is running so it could have been a combo of the broken wires and something else. Will have to wait to see if it re surfaces but hopefully sorted.
Edit:Thinking about it one of the broken wires was red and touching the ignition back so that would be the short coaster.
