Any body have an idea if there is much difference between sensor ring on top of the plug and solid fix to cylinder head fins?

seems a bit warm, im cruising 140-150 and 175-180 giving death

ts1, under the plug. take your sensor and stick it in boiling water, see if the base reading is 100

The problem with bolting to a fin for me would be that it is too far removed from the combustion area to give an accurate account of what's happening and the response will be delayed. Plenty of people do do that though but usually report much lower temps. I did read somewhere of someone putting the probe on top of the plug and holding it in place with a piece of fuel hose so that it stayed in contact with the metal part of the plug. Haven't tried it myself though.

I have my sensor over the plug and with the bit of fuel line in between it and the plug as suggested above. Seems to work, I'm only getting readings no more than 125 but I am only running in and haven't been over 50 (on Ts1).
