Have you tried the air screw? screwing it in clockwise richens on the vhsh.
Did you do a leak test after the rebuild?

Answers as follows.
This rb seems to eat slides even with a filter, this my 4th slide in about four years. They wear away on the outside edges and at the bottom. Could be needle but im on dq266 top clip from memory. I didnt air test it and i could have easily but i neglected to do it which in hindsight was a bad move, as i would have been able to eliminate the biggest job... :(

I would have expected it to have been a lot more crisp given the new top end. I suspect its an air leak.... Bugger

If youve had 4 slides in 4 years even with filter could the problem not be with the carb body itself ? Not familiar with this carb so its only a guess.

For £12 i may as well change it. They are a bugger to get out on vhsh carbs, any tips greatly appreciated :D
