Reading the readings.

Tried an old SIL leccy kit I had and got one spark then nothing, dead as a door post, tested it and got 645 on the green and 101 on the red, got fed up checking the wires etc so brought a 120 BGM stator from JB, checked that quick and got 536 on the green and 113, put it on and its like a new scoot, so whats that all about then?

SO...is 645 good or bad? does it show that there is a failure somewhere? I'm baffled by the readings.

The only thing I changed was the stator, same CDi and flywheel and its now running great, pulls better thru all the gears than the points I had before (which started playing up).

ive rebuilt alot of stators and do lammy vespa conversions some of the failed stators i do give ok readings but are knackered as yours was must admit ive never seen a low tension reading that high thou .you can also check the voltage output on these the low tension should be 35 to 180 volts depending on rpm measure this between green +white cdi wires .pick up should be 0.03 volts between red +white cdi wires this might tell you which is at fault i find its usually the low tension

At 645 ohms i'd suspect a dodgy joint on it somewhere or a loose earth tag rivet.
