mikuni 36 tm not tmx

Has anyone tried a tm 36 on a ts1 not a tmx 36.I just happen to have one to hand and wondered if it's worth a go instesd of buying a tmx .Looks very simple but we'll made. Do they work or do you need to modify them at all.Jets look easy enough to get hold of etc.

I run a TM38 on an RB. (with a powerjet)
No problems.
Think the TM is the version prior to the TMX, and hence tend to be about 50% cheaper, even when new
Might be wrong here, but seem to remember the full depth of carb is narrower than a TMX, so sits under panels better
