Vega starting problem

Hi,

I´ve had a complete stock original Vega in the garage for a couple of years now.
It had a mushy kickstart when I bought it and I thought the clutch is gone. So I got new plates and springs and installed them.

Even after that when I kick it it only turns the crank the first few kicks, after that it feels like a bad clutch again, the kickstart goes down hardly turning the crank.

More a vespa guy myself so would appreciate any tips, I feel like I´m missing the obvious here.

Thanks,

Nick

something basic like clutch cable adjustment? Must be some slack in the cable otherwise plates will slip and give the result you are describing.

I wish it would have been as easy.
It was the same with the cable disconnected completely.

Two things I can think of, the kickstart shaft is rubbing on the clutch top plate or the spiders splines are worn. Also check the push rod in the casing is free to move in and out and is the correct one and not something a previous owner may have fitted.
