Agusto - degrees retarding per 1000 revs

hiho,
can it be said that all Agusto units retard 6 degrees from as soon as the electronic gets enough power through the red wire to 6000/7000/8000 revs depending on model?
Therefore, the 6000 unit retards more degrees per revolutions as the 7000?

The Agusto retards steadily as soon as the revs rise. The retard is complete and static from 6000, 7000 or 8000rpm accordingly.

Roughly, the settings are 25degrees at tick-over, to 16 degrees full retarded. See Dave Blythe's "Agusto - snake oil?" thread on the LCGB forum.

thanks, this is what I wanted to know because it is easier and more accurate setting the ignition to 26 (as I did today) then letting the thing rev (no dyno), looking at the counter, holding throttle steady at 6000 and also manage with the third hand to strobe the 20° mark I want to have at 6000 :D
Will make a quick check tomorrow if it retards and if there´s no pinking later - ere we go.

against my own words I was going the full way today:
(old AF Ducati ignition)

static timing of 26° - slots in stator had to be enlarged
strobe: at tickover of ~ 1400 the Agusto has already retarded to 22°
I disconnected it and checked again with strobe: 26°

OK, not what I wanted, so running out of a slot now  I had to remove them completely.
a few testruns later I ended with a static ignition timing of 31° and 26° at tickover. At around 6000 I am now at 20 as I wanted it.
Conclusion: at least with my ignition and cdi it seems the retarding is not linear

Road test: all the benefits mentioned in other threads
I pushed it hard and tried situations where pinking occurs but everything was OK (head at 1mm squish, 12,1:1 / 7,0:1 compratio)
Tomorrow I am going to a rally, so further testing...

...
found the same when i tested one

going to try an api flywheel as they are hard to get 19 degs with a sil stator

OK, some reports from the rally weekend.

I took the engine fitted with the Agusto through the countryside with many hills and also on the motorway. I was very impressed with the overall feeling, very smooth to ride and fine if you are lazy changing gears. On the motorway I took it a few miles at 60 and later to constant 70mph. Didn´t want to give it full bore as this was the first longer run of the new cylinder, but no pinking or any other problems.
Considering the rather high comp/ratio and advanced ignition I was quite happy :bouncing:

From my point of view: Agusto A+++!
