Can someone let me know this thread size please. I`m away at work at the moment so I can`t check .
Been trying to route my hydraulic cable through the bolt hole but its a swine with the big allen bolt in place. I can possibly make something up here that hangs out of the way ( ie protrudes out the hole ) a bit more ,
I did enlarge the hole a bit but ran out of time

I only have the series 3 size which is M10 x 35 allen head, I'm not sure what a series 2 uses though I have a spare somewhere. If I can find it I'll measure it.

Most hydraulic cables I've seen go through a hole cut in the side of the headset though, is this your best route?

I'll be in the garage in about an hour. I'll measure mine then. Pretty sure it's m12 though.

Thanks boys, it runs nicely through the allen bolt hole . Just needs a different bolt.
There are ones on the market I know, but I gag at paying £26.50 for something I could probably make up

Problem is that the S2 bolt is fairly specific

so easily enough replaced with something off the shelf but the Series 1 and 2 are like this


I know what your planning but I would genuinely advice against it based on experience as it limits your future ease of working on the scooter and I speak from experience.

The only real advantage to doing is is the fact there's no extra holes in the headset, but after trying it when i first fitted a hydraulic brake it was real hassle to route, which affected the turning of the bars, as well as rubbing on the inside of the headset internals and catching wires. Additionally, when I came to rebuild my forks it was a complete pain removing them and reinserting, I ended up drilling a seperate hole in the headset bottom and threading the hose through and thought I was clever, until it needed taking apart again later that year and I discovered id trapped myself into having to rebleed it etc.

So, I eventually ended up dremeling a small arch in the headset top only and routing it that way, easier for servicing, easier for working on forks and less stress on the hose easing any rubbing inside the headset and down the outside of the fork tube.

Well ,the story is that I`m rebuilding the scoot and replacing the old scootrs hose as It was in a state ( IE its not a first time installation) . I was planning to go in though the existing slot with the new HEL hose I`d bought , under the connection block and down the side of the forks. The new hose is a little bit shorter it seems and it didn`t work this way. There`s already a slot in the lower headset for the old hose and the brake switch I wired in but there just wasn`t enough length in the new hose and it caught on the chrome ring at the front.
I hadn`t thought of putting it through the bolt hole until I saw it on here .
I was going to sleeve an M12 allen bolt maybe so the shoulder still pushed against the clamp and the head protruded ? .....

Just measured mine and it's m12 x 1.25.

ah, see i never used the rubber scootrs hose, only a braided. But I built my own rather then using a HEL as I could choose the length I wanted.
