sip wide wheels again

anyone else on here ran the two different tyre sizes -

130/70/10 - equal to a standard just wider

and the

120/90/10 - the taller bigger tyre?

i had to change the gearing for the taller one, but

has anyone ridden a scoot with the taller bigger tyre?

iv ran both and for some reason I think the taller tyre can be a bit more twitchy in the bends and at high speeds,

just wondering if anyone else has experienced the same?

would having a taller tyre at the rear effect the handling of the scoot?

i know the sip wide tyres put the contact with the road slightly off centre, but dunno if the taller tyre just feels wrong into the bends compared to the other wide wheel

iv ridden over a thousand miles on it but still just a bit unsure

Yes, the higher back end will make your steering angle steeper. That's what makes it twitchy.
It's like dropping the forks through on a bike.

hi, ive got a 120 70 10 on the back of my gp350 and its very sure footed, probably similar to the 130 70 10, i think the profile of the tyre affects the handling a lot, and i would guess the high profile on the 120 90 10 is the reason it felt twitchy, the side wall can flex out of shape under load, unlike the 70 profile with its small side wall will hardly flex at all, giving better stability, especialy on corners, an high speed.

:D

thanks for that,

I thought is it me or is it im just imagining it,

steering at high speed is twitchy as you described

and yes going into bends also seems to be more twitchy due to the taller tyre,

when i had the 130/70/10 on it stuck quite well into the corners and roundabouts,

cheers
