recently purchased an italian gp frame which I'm going to be building up from scratch, what problems are most common when building a lambretta and what is the hardest part to get right, cheers guys.

Steer clear of what appear to be cheap items on ebay as they can often be poor quality or even unusable. Ask on here for recommended dealers. Generally, Scooter Restorations, Scootopia, Just Lambretta, MB Developments to name a few.

If you haven't already bought it, buy The Lambretta Spanners Guide by Martin Sticky Round, it is essential reading.

I did my first one last year and can vouch that all the above are true, but I'd add the following advice.
Get a haynes manual (as well as, not instead of sticky's)
Read the lcgb workshop guides. Even better, print them off and keep in your workshop.
Bag stuff that goes together; religiously.
Try to buy stuff for one "thing" at a time e.g. all your headset parts.
Ask loads of questions on here and post pictures so that everyone knows what you're asking.
And most of all remember it's just for something to do for fun so don't get too wound up when things don't fit.

nice one, thanks for the help, my girlfriends already bought me a haynes manual which is currently on its way. ill have a look into all the above stuff

Obviously what's difficult depends on your knowledge and ability.
I second Coasters advice of purchasing Spanners Guide and agree with buying from reputable dealers. Never the less, you will find parts hard to fit and some parts won't fit at all. Be prepared to "fettle" parts to get them to fit.
Fitting the parts in the right order is a biggy and also the routing of cables/wiring (refer to Spanners Guide).

Put your location on your profile so that any local scooterist on here can come over and offer advice or "teach /show/demonstrate" how stuff fits and as others have said ask advive on here or facebook , andthere is no such thing as a silly question only a silly person who wont ask , and not everything innocenti did is still "right " engineering pracices have moved on
