2k lacquer

Currently respraying the old cutdown with satin black acrylic from cans.The finish isn't too bad at all,nice and smooth but I was wondering if I can go over the top with 2k can lacquer with the activator part at the bottom? Just wanted to protect the paintwork a bit better and the 2k lacquer is more petrol resistant and harder wearing than the standard stuff.Would it be ok to use the 2k over acrylic paint a few weeks after its hardened?
