BGM flywheel

I have been thinking about buying one of these as I have a BGM stator and the Indian flywheels I have tried are rubbing. Questions I have, are they a perfect match with the BGM stator? Has anyone had issues with them? Also I have heard they now come with shims, if so why the need if using a BGM stator?

I use an AF flywheel and BGM stator with no problems.

I've set up a few of them. They are great. You must (you always should anyways) use a timing light to set it up.
Only problem I ever had was when a crank twisted and caused the FW to rub the stator. The bike still ran great.

Hi.
I have fitted 3 BGM stators to 3 different motors and had to send them all back as the centre stepped boss on the rear is machined incorrectly causing misalignment to the mag housing.one engine actually twisted the crank due to the flywheel touching the stator coils .I think they've modified the new v4 version now if I'm correct

Really like the quality of the flywheel...Rivets will never shear...
Timing is a faff because you have to guess where the firing point is going to be in relation to the pickup (no window)
No dome to protect the flywheel nut means that to use the flywheel puller you always have to clear all the crud out, which if you are running open mouth carb can be significant.
No complaints reliability wise (most importantly)

Shame they don't have a plastic cap like Vespa's to keep the dirt out .

Thats an issue with the stator not the fly wheel right?

How do you know yoh have lined up the pickup correctly. Are you having to line it up best you can and slide it on?

Guess, then strobe it and adjust to suit, confirming by strobing again. This is actually a good thing as it stops people from thinking that aligning pickup and traditional flywheel marks is accurate enough, which it is not.
