Hi all, I've been having problems with a stiff clutch on a new build. Im using an MB inner and outer clutch cable routed correctly combined with a Yamaha lever conversion. It's much stiffer than it should be so I decided to trace everything back and have found that the gear housing hasn't got a slot / hole for the clutch cable ferrule to sit in. I'm wondering how important it is that the cable seats correctly in the housing. Could / would this lead to stiff clutch issues. Thanks in advance for any comments Pete.

It won't help and will lead to the inner fraying ,also check that the outer isn't crushed in the headset cutout when selecting 1st. You may need to grind a little out as in Stickys book. Also disconnect the inner from the clutch arm on the casing then pull the inner whilst pulling in the clutch lever and feel how smoothly the inner moves.

Do you have a MB gear adjuster block on your casing or a standard one?

I've tried over and under the mount. It's the same both ways. I'm starting to fall out of love with Lambrettas again.

Do you mean that the ferrule just buts up against a flat surface? If so, is there enough metal to drill a recess (5mm or so) to allow the ferrule to seat properly? Alternatively, is it possible that an old ferrule has got left behind in there and is preventing your new cable from seating?

Its a brand new housing. I've looked inside it and it doesn't look like there's even an indent where the ferrule should sit. I've just fitted a new LTH clutch and it's too stiff. I've tried a standard 4 plate ( MB springs ), an AF Road and a Readspeed 5 plate ( which was perfect in another motor ) all of which are very stiff. I'm starting to run out of ideas now. I'm no slouch mechinally wise but I'm stumped here.
