I'm trying to get hold of some coloured lacquer (see thru red or blue as I recall) to apply to chrome to protect it through the Winter.
You used to be able to buy tins which were "brush on" and smelt heavily of acetone or something like that.
Despite a search I can't locate any- anyone know what I'm on about?

I remember the stuff you are on about Chris, it didn't hold up too well. My older brother used it to paint the chrome on his push bike. Most of it flaked off if I remember correctly.
If you're not bothered by having it coloured then any clear lacquer would do, just make sure it's all degreased first.
