I'd buy an air/oil cooled Suzi Gixer 750, whip the fairing off and fit flat bars. If it has to be a scooter. P2 motor I suppose you could go with a Malossi MHR although I don't like Malossi. Another option from Quatrinni but big money and needs a specific crank which will double outlay

In which way exactly was that silly?

Okay, I've not looked at a/o cooled Suzi's in quite a while so they could well be a good bit north of that now.

Quattrini are doing a few kits and cranks for the big block now as are Malossi, fair bit of coin either way.Quat kit and crank are over a grand alone but Parmakit are looking for nearly that for a smallblock kit itself.

3k is quite a bit of money. I'd be inclined to phone around and see what the dealers/garages can offer. The Germans are the ones pushing the boundaries and it may be worth contacting one of them to see what they can offer.

Either way you'll get some back-feed as to what a "Street Racer" engine is and you may be able to source the parts and do the job yourself.

I'd be inclined to go with the Malossi but get a custom made exhaust and base the engine around that set-up.

What about this street racer?
You'd probably get that for 3k.
And it wouldn't be worth half that five minutes after you've spent the cash.
You'd still have the scooter umolested. Winner.

Reed Malossi 221 would be my choice... I recently had one built by Sean Brady @ Scooterotica Garage... the one that's being dyno'd in the link above - and as the vid shows, this engine is making a very healthy 31bhp + 23ft/lbs torque & that's without running 'extreme' port timings (currently approx 186/128) and it's also pulling extra tall 24/63 gearing.
I used the latest MHR 221 top end with Scooter & Service modified cylinder head https://www.scooter-and-service.de/cust ... nfigurator - Scooter & Service Reed Kit with VForce 4 Reeds & Keihin PWK 35 Carb https://www.scooter-and-service.de/larg ... aser-pwk35 - Worb5 60mm Reed Crank http://www.sip-scootershop.com/main/bas ... r=45034000 - and this Exhaust https://www.scooter-and-service.de/cust ... e-lefthand

The above parts come in at approx £1,250.00 @ current exchange rates... and you could then splash out on the Worb5 up-gear kit http://www.sip-scootershop.com/en/produ ... i_20302000 - with a 36t short 4th Gear & a top-notch billet clutch for another £450.00 ish... add £100.00 for quality bearings/seals/gaskets, ect - plus say another £100.00 for misc items - and your looking @ a total parts tally of around £1900.00 for a high-spec +30 bhp road burner - so well inside of your £3k budget... and tbh you'd almost definitely be able to make further savings on this figure by sourcing alternative crank, reed kit, carb - ect...
Obviously there'll also be some tuning & porting works required to cylinder/piston/crank in order to achieve 30+ bhp, which will add to the parts cost above (if your not planning on doing the work yourself) - but if your looking for someone to do the build/tune, then I'd recommend giving Sean @ Scooterotica a call... ;)
