hand held rev counter

As above has anyone used or use an hand held rev counter like this one eBay no 251355349676 can be a pain sometimes trying to strobe and look at rev counter at the same time

thoughts gentlemen please.

That item won't do the job, that item strobes rotating parts, not electrical/ignition pulses.
I use a Koso digital rpm counter on occasion whilst dynoing, it has wire which attaches to the HT lead to give readings. However it is so sensitive that you only need to hold it near to get a reading.
When strobing, I use a strobe gun with built in RPM counter so I can strobe timing marks and check RPM for variable ignitions/MTech etc.

Typical just being me tightwad self I have seen the strobes with the built in rpm just trying to do it on the cheap

I have one of those and can verify it works OK.
Odd thing is once you set it it never seems to switch off again.
