Very stiff clutch.

Hi all,
I've fitted an AF Road clutch into my RB motor today and it's extremely stiff. I have the race version in another motor and it's a one finger pull and very light. Does the Road version need a de burr before its fitted? I have an MB inner and outer clutch routed correctly and a Yamaha lever fitted also. Has anyone else had this problem and how did you resolve it? Thanks in advance Pete.

I stripped mine pre fitting and found that it was tight in the basket. I rotated plates until I found a combined position that fitted easily and then put it into the motor for the first time and the action was great from the start. As I never fitted it as it came, I don't know whether it would have been stiff or not.

My plates were dragging on the basket for a very stiff clutch.
I had to file and de-burr it before it worked ok then sold it to buy a propper clutch.

I also had some other woes with the clutch and had to machine the spider too...

In the end I fit a Roccho 6 plate and solved all problems.
My Ts1 build has a LTH clutch because I didn`t dare try an AF Race clutch.

I took the clutch out late last night and found that the steels are very tight in the basket. It looks like another day of filing a brand new ( not cheap ) part to fit. I only got the AF as I had no problems with the Race version. I sometimes wonder why I bother with it all. Thanks fellas..Pete.

You bother with it because it's interesting. If we wanted easy, reliable and all that goes with it suzuki burgmann sales would be a lot healthier!

True to a certain extent, but when every single part you but needs ' adjusting ' to fit, it all gets slightly tedious.

I agree 100%.
I understand having to fettle stuff to fit because of different setup, bodywork etc, but an expencive clutch should be fit and forget.

I've had mine apart, and spent several hours filing the steels, it's better, but still stiffer than I'd like. I'm going keep it as a spare, and put a Readspeed 5 plate kit in it. The one in my Imola is lovely and light. With hindsight, I should of done that in the 1st place.
