Been having a good trash around the town on my TS1 this week after having her dyno'd, absolutely loving it, but, I have noticed that I have some very black very sticky oil on the underside of my JL3 just under the fattest part of the exhaust (under the carb). I have checked all around the top end and can't find any signs whatsoever of any leaks. There is no signs at all from the exhaust stub area (I have sealed every seal on the engine with copper RTV).

After recently seizing this engine I am trying my best to pre-empt any problems. Anyone got any suggestions where this might be coming from???

Do you run a filter?

I get it on mine as it comes out of the carb, runs down the panel and footboard then on the pipe

I don't run a filter, but this stuff is proper black sticky stuff, I put my hand under the pipe this afternoon and my fingers looked like they had black ink on them :?:

Sounds like a pin hole leak in the pipe.

Clean off all the existing oil and then run the bike for a few min. It should present its self pretty quick.

Carb Overflow. The gas in the mix evaporates and theres just two stroke oil left together with the dirt on the exhaust.

the underside of my jl exhaust is the same, and i can trace it easily to the carb overflow, and also the breather plug. the oil with all the road dirt will create this. by all means check your exhaust in detail, but its most probably the former.
