Posting for a mate.
Can a stator that's starting to breakdown take out a perfectly good CDI?
Hes been having problems with poor starting and occasional cutting out so changed the CDI and all was well.......for a while but the problem seems to have come back.
Plug has been changed also.

Have you tried the obvious, and tried running with the green wire from the kill switch disconnected from your CDI? This would at least eliminate this from the equation, as the symptoms you describe could be a faulty kill switch or key switch.

Get him to check the connections to the CDI very carefully too. Could be a badly crimped or corroded connector?

check the earth tags on the stator plate they are peined over and can work loose, i solder them to the backplate for a perfect connection.
