The thought of doing this had never entered my head, but I do believe you are right.... from now on I will be fitting two... It will make for a more secure grip on the cable and the use of the two soft brass washers wont damage the cables as much... 8-) 8-) Top Tip Thanx...

Broady`s trunnions come with two washers so they grip the cable and don`t cut in to it ;)

Any idea where you can get the washers on their own?
I do not try to explain why I ride Lambrettas,
For those who understand, no explanation is necessary,
For those who don't, no explantion is possible.

MB, but I'm not sure if they fit just their trunnions or others as well.

Brass washer..?? Surely they wouldnt be useing stainless washers as these would cut into the cable a little more than the softer brass which would grip better and preserve the cables longer.... ;)

The problem seems to be that the set screw hole is deeper than the cable pass through hole in a lot of trunnions so with one washer you are still cutting the cable strands when you tighten it up. If you can get an extra washer in and still be able to pass the cable through that would help. I dug out a set of originals that i had just cut off, the brass body's cleaned up and were perfect and the set screw was not corroded in any way and still had the washers. Not bad for 45 years

If you buy a strip of brass rod (cylindrical), you can cut it to length and use it to protect the cable. You can buy such rod at good model shops, or off epay.
