Out of the pre 65 and post 65 series 3 gear change housings, which is the best? By that i mean the one thats easiest to get rid of slop. Iv welded up pre 65 rods into the housings before and whilst that sorted some of it it then threw up other issues when wanting to change the rod... :)

I've just fitted the brass version from MB. I drilled and tapped both the throttle and gear wheels to M6 and then fitted grub screws so as to really grip the rods. I've done the same to the handle bar bushes. With some loctite on both bushes there's no slop in the gears or throttle at all. If you want to remove anything just strip it down and they'll knock out with a bit of effort. The complete kit from MB isn't cheap but it's very good quality. I did have to grind inside of the headset to get the quick action gear wheel to fit but I'm using Scootrs drops so I'm not sure about standard bars.

Probably the best would be the late gearchange with the nylon end bush fitted to an early splined shaft ?

Ta for that. Im getting the housing for the. Cyclone 5 speed, they sell both types, so i can go either way. Funny eneough the finished scooter is a tv175 clone apart from badging. Wasnt my intention to do that just turned out that way. I think in thinking they had the pre 65 housing and brass wheel? Im leaning towards the splined set up. Seems a lttle more solid. I have the scooter loopy john quick action throttle and theres plenty of room in an sx headset so could well be your drops.
