reminds me when I had a personal inspection at home from the local DVLA in Bristol many years ago.

Two women turned up to look at the scooter- did not have a clue where to look. I pointed out the frame and engine numbers and they refused to kneel down and look in case "they got their tights dirty".

I had to read out the numbers for them as they wrote them down- could have told them anything!

You lucky bugger !!!
I just had a Lambretta inspected at home by SGS. I was visited by

MrThorough. of
No 1 Thorough avenue,
Thoroughtown

On national 'I'll be thorough day'

He layed on the floor using a torch equivalent to a WW2 searchlight scraped all the paint off the number and ran a scriber through each digit.
A task he managed without ever once smiling or indulging in gentle conversation.

Still, I got my reg No. ten days later ............................................ :D

Nope. Daggs settled for mixing up a little bit of paint and brushing it on.

Just as a point of interest. On the way out he suggested 'in future mask off the number when spraying and cover it with clearcoat later'
