Gents, I need to ask your opinion / advice. I have a lammy piston ported 200 top end with a JL3 & 28BGM carb. Engine never on the road. Numerous issues all pointed towards the stator, so replacement in hand, damage was revealed when the flywheel came off
Crank keyway knackered and taper well gouged......flywheel boss fooked also. So I now have a new stator, A.F. lightened flywheel, and a new crank all to go in once i strip it down. My question is as i had fitted all new bearings etc a few months back, could I get away with fitting a new NU2205 collar onto the crank from another bearing to use with the bearing already fitted, or do I still need to replace the whole bearing ???

IMHO. If it is exactly the same make of bearing and from similar batch/year of manufacture then there should not be a problem.
You'll probably want to hear that echoed several times though !

If you have already bought a bearing to get the new collar, and bought new seals to fit when you replace the fecked crank.
Would it not be better to just drift the old bearing out and fit the new one??
You already have the mag seals in the kit you have bought.
I assume you weren't skimping on seals after a major engine faliure???

In the circumstances you describe, just fitting a new bearing inner race to the crank will be fine.

You already have the mag housing off and you have to use the new inner race on the crank,if it were mine I would heat up the mag housing and remove the old bearing and oil seals and fit the new ones.

Just pull the race off the crank and fit it to the new crank.

ive done it in the past - just replaced the inner race from another bearing (same manufacturer) with no adverse effect.
