Hi all,

I have a 210 converted ss180 which runs generally well, is amazing for weekends away as it pulls like an ox, even 2 up, and can easily keep up with traffic and other tubed scooters.

It has 2 problems though, which might be correlated or completely separate:

1. In lower gear it won't work related properly rev out. It goes to a certain point and then it stutter. In higher gears it's not visible because it wouldn't rev out that we'll anyway put wot around london it's definitely an issue. Having tried all main jets from 118 to 135 with little difference and various atomiser combinations I'm starting thinking the exhaust which is standard might be limiting?

2. Running every day it starts just fine after a couple of kicks with its rather high compression but if I park it up from the some while it will require a spark plug swap/cleaning, as the one inside will have gone really oily with sticky black gunk. Mixing wise it's fine though with the plug on the darker side of the mid range. Got a new fuel plug recently "just in case"

Any thoughts?

Many thanks Victor

Nice to hear from you Victor 8-)

What carb have you got on there? if it's oiling up around town I would doubt if it's main jet related, probably idle/airscrew or maybe needle atomiser related?

Hi Colin,

It's the standard si 23/27 which is the only one that fits without some serious tinkering.

I'm running it quite rich at I think 4% (original is 5%) and the airscrew is adjusted.

Have tried with smaller atomiser which didn't really make any difference, think it ran worse.

To clarify, as long as I don't run wot it putters along just fine in town :)

I think a blocked or otherwise restrictive exhaust would just result in a loss of power rather than the stuttering you describe. Have you checked your points lately?

I'll double check them but i've been riding it very little for the last year and it's been like this for a while and the points and condenser have less than 1000 miles, possibly only 500...
