My scooter generally starts first or second kick. I came home from a ride a couple of weeks back where in the last couple of miles there was a bit of a stutter in the revs which I didn't think too much of because it picked up and was fine the rest of the way home. Went to go out a couple of days later and it would not start. I had fuel and a spark. The compression seemed a bit low so I took off the top end. Everything seemed OK except the ring gap which was about 3mm so I replaced the rings and it still won't start. The spark still seems good but I checked the LT coil resistance and it is 350 ohms instead of the expected 450. Could this be the problem? I would have thought if I had a spark the scooter would have at least tried to start

350 is too low - try a known good stator

same thing has just happened to mine. my reading was 360. had a spark, would occasionally fire after a trillion kicks but not last for long.
pulled stator and lt coil was clearly knackered.
so swap lt coil or change whole stator.

Thanks for your replies. It was the LT coil that was faulty. Just replaced it with a BGM one and it started 3rd kick :D
Just goes to show even if you have got a spark it doesn't mean it will start
