Hey All,

I want to fit a decent rev counter to my S2. I recently bought an eBay cheapie but it has a wobbler when you get over about 5000 revs, not sure if that's to do with the Varitronic I have fitted although I have set it for twin sparking...

Anyways, I have a half decent speedo that I bought from Cam Lam a couple of months ago that works ok, albeit It reads a bit faster than the GPS app on my iPhone tells me!

So The question is...... Should I buy something like the Stage 6 one that measures revs and engine temp and stick with the standard speedo or just bite the bullet and get a SIP speedo/Rev counter? Obviously twice the price and a bit of a waste of what I already bought but would it be worth the extra cost?

Anyone got comments about either?

There aren't many standard speedos that are accurate no matter what you pay. For the standardish look I can reccomend the SIP...

I think your ears are as good as any rev counter and you don't have to take your eyes off the pot holes.

I was contemplating the same as you.
I bought a cheap speedo and cable which i will fit to my s2.
My series 3 speedo does not work. Nor has any speedo on any scooter i have ever owned.
I do not need a temperature gauge or rev counter as i am running a relatively mild set up.
I will however want to know my speed and distance covered.... For running in purposes and to avoid speed cameras.
I am thinking of either fitting a modcharger or bgm regulator with dc output and using either a sat nav or garmin forerunner strapped to the handle bars.or possibly a cheap bike type magnetic speedo off flea bay.

I tried a cheap eBay magnetic speedo and it worked about as well as the cheap eBay Rev counter... i.e it was a bag o' shite! To be fair, the speedo I have that came from Cam Lam is ok, no wobbles and reads about 60 when you're doing 55 so it adds a bit of 'feel good' factor!

Decided after reading reviews of problems people have had with the SIP speedo to keep what I have and add a Stage 6 Rev counter/temp gauge which was about £65 shipped inc the temp sensor lead.... The reason I want these is I've been having a go at some home tuning and will find it helpful to have a more accurate way of gauging revs and temp than just listening and smelling whether I think it's getting hot!
