Are steering bearings a standard size?
I have refitted my eibar s2 forks. Used AF steering bearings .....fitted loose at the bottom. A very fiddly job.
I have tightened the forks and refit the headset bottom.
The headset bottom where the steering pin comes out is catching on the chrome ring and removing the paint when I turn the steering.
Any ideas?
I had toyed with the idea of shimming the headset from the clamp to raise it a bit.

OK my next stupid qestion

Can I use a series 3 escorts rear shock absorber on a s2?
I have fitted it and it raises the rear end but lowers the front.
Will it be OK or am I in dangers of hitting the bump stop.

A series 3 shock should lower it and raise the front !
the s2 has or should have fork links with a different rake on them less severe than the s3 this lifts the front by approx 8mm
s2 shocks should be around 315 mm between hole centers
s3 around 305 mm

Do you mean the frame?
I was thinking of the the engine. If its a shorter shocker does it lower the engine?
Will the shorter shocker be OK.

The rear of the engine will be closer to the frame shock mount so that end will be relatively higher. This mean that the end with the cylinder on will be rotated downwards so will be lower.

Shorter shockers are often used to provide a bit more clearance for right hand exit manifolds. It doesn't seem to cause problems.

Two steps forward ine step back with this scooter.
I have shimmed the headset. I had the frame jigged by seaun burns.
The headset is not perfectly oval. I suspect at somepoint it has been banged.
So forks and headset fitted today and engine fitted.
Attach cables. Forks turn too far left potentially cutting off the gearcables on the chrome ring.
When i stripped the scooter the frame stop was not attached in the fork tube. I had it welded on. It would appear slightly lop sides so the forks turn too far one way and not enough the other.
