Updating V5 with no engine No???

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, I wasn't sure where it would best sit.

Having now finished my new engine build, I have put the engine into my GP and now want to update the details on my V5 and inform my insurance of the change in details. I have done this each time I have modified my engines and have had my new V5 back within 10 days, updated with no questions asked. My question today is, my new engine casings came to me with no engine number stamped on them, how will I go about informing the DVLA of a change in engine without an engine number? Is this possible?

Get a set of stamps and make up a number.

Or don't bother....

Keeping your insurance people up to date is the main thing.
