I've got a Luna or J Range sliding dog, its got four notches in it for gear selection. Am I right in thinking its got to be for a 3 speed as one notch (which is smaller) is for neutral?

I also have a layshaft - any idea how I can confirm whether its for 3 speed or 4 speed Vega/Starstream

You selector sounds like three speed.

Is it new? Does the selector look like it might fit?

If not any sign of rims around it?

Thanks I've been able to compare it with another and it is 4 speed. Odd I would of thought 3 but I'm guessing one notch is not needed as the end of one leg is at an angle so this must act as a notch.
