Changing taxation Class

took my Spanish Li150 special for mot Friday, all good (advisory on rear tyre ). looking at the V5c it says ,First registered 01.01. 1975. first registered in Uk 01.01.1975, so after looking at the DVLA website i thought i could get "Historic Vehicle " tax i.e. Free. spoke to DVLA who said i could make the changes on the V5C and the post office could change the class and send the V5C to them for amend ment and there would be no charge to pay.
post office scanned the V5C and could only amend it to Disabled or leave as is "bicycle". back on the phone to DVLA, who this time actually bothered to look at their copy of the V5C, and said their copy had a different date of manufacture !!! I said surely you cant register a vehicle before it`s manufactured ? registered 01.01.1975 means it must have been made before that date.
Any way they said send in a dating cert from LGCB or Lambretta Archives, which had already been done as a mate went thru registration process back in 2008.
my question is can the date of manufacturing be more specific than just the year of manufacture from the frame Number?
