The TS1 I put together a couple of years ago has a Ron Moss TS1 piston and big fin head (machined flat). The ports are unmodified but I used a 58/110 crank and played with base packer/gasket thickness to get the port timings down to a tamer level a bit. I initially ran it with a 30mm BGM PWK and Ancilotti and it ran very nicely, no hesitation of flat spots from tickover up to max revs but it ran out of puff at 60 mph no doubt due to the exhaust. It got very little use in that configuration but a few weeks ago I had to press it into service for a trip round Germany and substituted the carb for a 30 PHBH and the exhaust for a Frasnspeed Super tourer. The result was a much quicker pick up from about 4.5k rpm and a big kick from about 5.5k rpm. I didn't get a chance to get it on a dyno before the trip so haven't really caned it but have seen 70 GPS a couple of times fully loaded with a weeks luggage. It does need a smaller front sprocket on though, Li 150 gears with a 46 rear sprocket and currently 17 front (4.7?). A 16 front should let it rev out a bit as I was having to change down to 3rd a lot if I was trying to maintain a speed around 50 mph or on hills.

I built my TS1 for touring and dead chuffed with its performance.

58-110 crank base packer from Darrell T,
mikuni TMX 30
MB clubman
Cyclone 5 box 18-47 sprockets.
Standard Reed with LTH intake.
BGM Piston.

Loads of grunt, but runs out of legs at 6700 revs. I have manage to squize out 7200 but there isn`t any point as it just makes more noise than power.
Fuel consumption is good (12l fuel tank)

Its a smooth, trouble free engine but sometimes I miss the fun of my old RB22 (until I think of the hours i used on that in the garage)..

Same as my spec above apart from the exhaust and I'm also using an LTH short manifold. With the Fran Super Tourer it'll happily rev to 7.5k rpm through the gears 8-)

Coaster, I have just built one similar to your spec with a 30PHBH running the following Mj140, P55, AV266, X13 2nd clip, with a MB panel filter, ignition 17 BTDC. what settings is your running? Only covered about 30 miles so far on it. what running regime did you do?
Cheers Andy

I tried running with a filter but gave up and it currently has no filter. A friend tried one of the stick on ones and it was a horrible mess. As for running in, I took it easy for the first 50 miles but being a nicasi bore t does't really need any running in ;)

Hmm.. quite fancy the Andy fran touring pipe.

Thing is Ive gone through shitloads of pipes over the years, custom pipes, Jl`s , PM Tuning, Dev-tour and I have ALWAYS had problems with splits, cracks, bends and snaps.... My MB clubman is still whole and reliable.

Thats basicly why I went for something simple, ohh... and it looks pretty standard without me having to cut footboards on the series 2. I do miss the fun though.
