I`ve got my head gasket blowing on my gt 186, I normally jut smear grease over both sides of gasket for ease of removal later but think I need a sealant now so any recommendations ie Loctite or silicone ?

I'd be looking at the "flatness" of the head mating surfaces first.

just work it on a bit of wet and dry on a flat surface (sheet glass etc)- shouldn't affect it compression wise to any real degree.

the sheet of glass is a old wifes tale, get a piece of steel from your logal engineers tell them what you want it for they will cut and skim a piece.

6mm piece of steel is easy to get hold of and keep in the workshop, a perfect pice of glass that you could break is hard to find

Tempered glass chopping board with fine valve grinding paste and WD40 does it for me.
